Junk yard cars are always interesting finds, as are barn finds and abandoned car reports.
When looking at the cars can’t help wondering with some what was the condition when the car was first put there.
No doubt many would have been exceptionally good, perhaps with just a minor fault, and from my own personal experience in the wrong circumstances it is surprising how quickly a vehicle can deteriorate.
My neighbour had quite a collection of cars including a very original 1928 Buick parked under a makeshift carport. I had tried several times to buy it but no. A bad storm took care of the carport and punctured the Buick’s roof in the process. It was left like this, the interior became a sodden mess, woodwork started rotting and with 4 years the car had virtually rotted onto the ground leaving a pile of rusted out metal as we were close to the sea. What had been an original runner was now only good for some salvageable spare parts.
